We at Deep Roots Massage Therapy take the COVID-19 outbreak seriously. We encourage our staff to frequent hand hygiene, sneeze and cough etiquette, and staying home when ill.
While a COVID-19 outbreak is not unexpected in Canada, our public health system is prepared to respond. In order to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19, everyone has a role to play. Canadians should continue to think ahead about the actions that they can take to stay healthy and prevent the spread of any illness.
Now and always during cold and flu season, stay home if you are sick. Encourage those you know are sick to stay home until they no longer have symptoms.
Some people might think that it could be a good idea to schedule a massage when you are sick. Massage does boost the immune system, calms, and relaxes your muscles and nervous system. However, when your body is already fighting off a virus due to cold or flu, a massage can actually make things worse as it increases the circulation in the body, manipulates the muscles, encouraging and pushing the waste through the body at a faster pace than normal.
Please be considerate of your therapist and the other clients and never come in for a massage if you are contagious or in self-isolation. We work closely with you in small spaces, and germs can spread through the air easily in these conditions. If we do not get sick, one of our other clients who is more at risk of catching it can.
Our advice is to just stay at home. Your therapist won’t mind rescheduling your appointment, and they should send you home if you show up with sickness. We will not charge you a late cancellation fee under these circumstances.
We are eternally grateful for our community and wish you peace and solace during this time. Your health and the health of our team are of the utmost importance and we continue to follow public health official and internal team member inputs as we navigate this complex situation.
