WHY WOULD I LIMIT MYSELF TO ONE MASSAGE THERAPIST
Many of us receive approximately 9-12 massages a year. With so many choices for Massage Therapy, how do you choose? With life slowly returning to what was pre-pandemic, some people may be feeling anxious about the transition back to normalcy. Not everyone is comfortable ditching their masks or gathering in large groups, but many massage therapy clinics are working to make the transition as easy as possible and to make people feel as comfortable as possible through additional cleaning measures, lower clinic capacities, and proper PPE use.
To help with Covid stress, I have lately become serious about receiving at least a monthly massage myself and I still find it hard to stick to just one therapist, and I ask myself why someone would limit themselves in this way. My needs are always changing, my mood changes, and my emotions flow. Depending on my mood, I have a Massage Therapist I prefer for different situations.
Sometimes I want to feel relaxed, and other times have an issue dealt with during the treatment plan. I want a Therapist with great decision-making skills, confidence excellent communication, strong palpation, and an understanding of anatomy. Sometimes during a massage treatment, I want to talk and sometimes I want to listen but most of the time I prefer to share my health history, past injuries, and goals I would like addressed during treatment. I like participating in pleasantries, followed by 90 minutes of no talking.
Everyone has their own individual needs and I encourage you to seek out different Massage Therapists within a clinic so you can build your own personal team of Wellness Specialists.
